Creating a website for a photographer

Context

This year, I wanted to professionalize my activity as a photographer artist. I’ve had an Instagram account for several years but no website. So I remedied that. This site has several objectives:

  • showcase my work
  • increase my visibility and reputation
  • no longer depend on a social network and its capricious algorithm

Objective

Improve my visibility Diversify my acquisition channels Develop my artistic career

Site structure

I built a showcase site with a « classic » structure:

  • home
  • about
  • contact

For presenting my photos, I didn’t want just a gallery. I wanted to go further. I wanted to take the reader behind the scenes of creating each series. That’s how the « stories » page was born. It’s like a digital exhibition, really. It complements the « topics » page which presents my most beautiful photos on a specific subject.

Wireframes

Once the structure was defined, I drew wireframes for the different screens. This step allowed me to structure the content while thinking about internal linking. It facilitates user navigation throughout the site. I added a newsletter to create a community, share preview content and exclusives.

Mockup and integration

I chose a very sober and refined artistic direction to stay consistent with my photographic style. I naturally chose shades of gray. I added images, particularly on the about page, to highlight the diversity of my work. I integrated the site on WordPress with the Divi theme. And here’s the result!
